tubes went bad in it so it sat in the closet for the last 2 years. it's from the hand made in florida era. i have a brand new set of the Sovtek tubes US Amps uses. BUT, i tried an upgrade and installed a set of NOS Mullard tubes that cost me just under $300 for the pair. amp is in exellent cosmetic shape. will get pics up later.
i personally calibrated the amps bias and DC offset to dead nuts as one can get. Great sound, can't pick fly poop out of pepper. after my calibrations i tested the amp on some custom skanning mids i had built for me and LCY ribbon tweets. if something is going to be revealed, they will definately reveal any sonic impurities.
replacement Sovtek tubes, which work great, are only $15 each. So in the future, if the amp ever starts to cause the speakers to sound bad, replace the tubes and re-cal the amp (if it needs a cal, but check voltage specs to make sure). I will include detailed instructions and pictures on how to do this. it's not difficult.
looking for $450'ish shipped, or a close reasonable offer.
a tid bit of knowledge to share... if anyone else who reads this knows of someone, or has one of the US Amps tube amps that doesn't sound good, if the tubes are several years old, replace them. and in any case, check and calibrate the amp. what they call the DC offset, disconnect the RCA's. power the amp up and let sit for 10 minutes to warm up good. measure the voltage across each channels Pos and Neg terminals. it should be ZERO or within only a few millivolts. if it's not, that is why your amp will feed your speakers a bad sound. the bias is measured across the outside legs of one of the T35 transistors for each channel. it should be between 1V and 500 mV. when the tubes are good and the amp is cal'd, it is a very fine amp.
