I was running a test tone and put my DMM AND as soon as the test leads made contact to the speaker outputs it’s sparked and my amp switched into protect mode for 10 seconds thoughts? Is it safe?

I wouldnt mess with a DMM at all for the moment .See if the amplifier kicks back on at a normal operation state to see if it goes back into protect or not. If it does. I would remove that amp and Bench test it or have it bench tested

The only way I see it sparking is if you had your meter set to measure current. That would short the terminals, put your amp into protect, and blow the meter fuse.
