ok I had someone install a kenwood deck into my 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. I just recently bought a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. He said that the wiring harness will be the same for the grand prix as it was for the sunfire. I can just plug it in...

is this true? I have the cars dash rip out as we speak, and its hard to tell if the plugs are right.....I did manage to figure out the right way they fit together....but if you look at the pins on the wireing harness compared to plugs on the car, they dont match up, as in they wont be going in all the holes....

I'll go out there and take a pic

//edit

This is the connector from the actual car

This is how the 2 would plug in together, imagine just turning them inward

what do you guys think?

Try it and see if somthing smokes!? No I dunno, if the power, ground, and ACC wires line up, plug it in and see what happens.
How about do some research.. thats not gonna work. Those cars use two completely different kits due to the electronics included in the 2002 sunfire. You need the 70-1858 from Metra to make it work properly. The Sunfire uses the GMRC-01 (data retention harness), the two are not compatible.

However, you are a true Car Audio Trooper. If you are installing a HU in whether that requires gloves to be worn, you get a //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif in my book

Sigh.

The 1858 was used in so many generation of cars in the 90's. Now they had to change the harness. At least what they could've done was fix the GM10 antenna adaptor but noooooooooooooooooo

if you can remeber when you had your factory radio in, when the door chimes were on, were they comming from the speakers, if so i agree with the others, the data retention harness is needed, i had the same problem on my 04 chevy silverado, and my harness was 89 dollars, because it comes with a small speaker and controll box that mounts behind the HU

haha you have noooo idea. It was SO **** cold out today. But I've had this car for over a month and I'm buying to get my stereo back in. So I said screw waiting for the warmer weather...

and about that data thing, I didnt pay for it with the sunfire, so it didnt chime when the doors were open, lights on etc, it worked fine....except for the 939853245 times I killed my battery because I forgot about the lights...ooopS! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif
