Urgent help, adding polyfil...

hi there, I have a .95cf sealed enclosure with a 12" Phoenix Gold RSD sub getting around 600rms.

Well the sub doesnt hit the low notes like I want it to, so I went out and got a 20oz bag of polyester fiber(polyfil?) from walmart.

1. Should I add the whole bag of 20oz?

2. Do I just put the fiber in or should I smash/break it a part?

3. Do you guys think it will improve the low notes?

This is my only option, since its a stealth sealed box I cannot make it larger.

1. Put about 3/4 of the bag in.

2. Doesn't really matter -- you can 'fluff' (pull it apart) it a little before you throw it in... or not.

3. Maybe. It usually does make some difference, but it isn't always a huge one. Try it and let us know if it works for you.

It won't make a difference. Upgrade to a more powerful sub and amp.

Well, I added half a bag or around 10oz of polyfil.

I think the sub sound a little bit less, but it doesnt have that punchy sound @ high frequency notes, it can now play the lower notes much better.

from what I hear that sub loves sealed boxes closer to 1.5 to even 1.8 cf so yours is quite a bit smaller than that. I think PG even recommends 1.2 or so. Glad it sounds better now for you but it's probably not going to reach it's full potential without a bigger box. As much as I hate to say it a w6 probably would have worked better in that small of a box, but they cost about 3x as much too, lol.
