So, I hear a knock on my door about an hour ago. I go open it and the UPS guy just dropped this off, didn't say anything and was in his truck driving off when I got there. Do they normally drop the package back off at the recipiant, after the seller has initiated an insurance claim on it? I would think they would have either kept it, or delivered it back to Chris, considering I didn't insure it, he did. WTF. Oh, did I mention they broke it AGAIN, and just seran wrapped it up and left it here LOL.

This is the broken sub that they came and picked up at the end of last week. They picked it up because the shipper had initiated an insurance claim on it. I don't really care if they broke it again, I'm really just wondering why they even gave it back to me. If the shipper initiated a claim on it, then it wouldn't really be my property anymore right? If anything, I would think that UPS would either keep it and give him his money, or just give it to him, not me. How does this work?

i would think a crate would be better than a cardboard box, but it all comes down to how its packaged inside.

Nope, most crates are too **** rigid.When they take a blow, they just break.

I think the best way is the wrap the sub in a garbage bag, and fill the box with expandable foam.

Got my DMX wrapped all in Bubblewrap and then surrounded in peanuts and it was perfect.

And put in a reg box.

Hell the sub weighs around 35-40 lbs.......

They have to able to move and bounce.

A better way might be to put the sub in a bag, then put two bags in the box that you fill with foam, so the poor sap can get the shit OUT of it's packaging when it arrives. I've seen a lot of industrial packing done that way and it works pretty flawlessly.
