Upgrading to 14v? Insight needed

That 2V change isn't very significant and most decent electronics would be able to handle it, but I wouldn't say just because that truck's stock electrical can handle 16.5V then that means ALL cars can.
Youd be hard pressed too find some that cant.

Thats the whole reason they made 14v batts, so u dont need too do much too run them with stock setups, unlike 16v batts....they just bridged the gap from 12v to 16v

 
Ultimately the main factor in a vehicles electrical for a daily driver is: charge current vs. discharge current. You must be have sufficient charging capibility to maintain the battery(s) at an adequate level. If you are discharging at 140A and charging at 80A for extended periods, you will have problems. Adding batteries or even upgrading to 14V will give you a larger window to play full tilt, but not remedy insufficient charge current. Just my .02.
