Upgrading to 0Gauage What Fuses?

Hey guys I'm running all new 0gauge and doing the big 3... I got a 300a fuse between alt and bat and under hood going out from main battery. Bout 15' Max run to my kenitek then running 0guage off it to battery. Im running a 1600D Hifonics. And runnin it full 1600RMS @ 1ohm. Amp has 2x 80a fuses and everyone knows 0guage is rated at 250a. So Question IS what size fuse to put between kenitek bat and amp????

So just fuse like 10inchs from the front battery and 10inches from the back? And put a fuse block from back bat to amp. Then what about the alt to bat?

Fusing is a good idea. Fuse from front batt to the rear, fuse from the alt to the battery to protect the PCM and electronics in case of a short out. Fusing should be within a foot of the source that is generating the power ie alt and batt.

Ok within a foot.. So Fuse from alt to bat. Fuse front bat going back within a foot. Fuse within a foot before second batter? Then Fuse after the second batter??? 4 Fuses? All Right? All What Size???

Only one fuse needed for the posi run going from front battery to the back batt, and this fuse should be within a foot of the FRONT battery. I have always thought at least 250a for 1/0

Oh ok so only need 1 fuse for bat to bat run... People were saying i need 2 but didnt understand that. Thanks for info. Any more opinions????

generally, 200-300 under the hood by battery

same for the positive battery post to positive alternator post (part of the big-3)

you can fuse by the amp in the trunk but thats optional. if the amp is NOT internally fused, then I'm not sure if its mandatory to add an external fuse.

keep in mind that the length of power wire plays a factor on deciding which amperage fuse.

Ok well im running that second battey. So no fuse before the second battery or should there be? I think if theres any problem the fuse under the hood will take care of it right...?? The length all the way back is like 15ft max. Ill definatly fuse between the second battery and amp what what amperage there?

Alright just order'd 3 0guage anl fuse holders. 2 of them have 300amp fuses which im going to use for the alt to bat run and the bat going back under the hood. Now what amperage fuse should i put in the one going to amp from second bat??? Thanks

BUMP I got 300's under the hood now. What size from second bat to 1600D Hifonics amp??? Amp = 2x 80a fuses on it and 0guage rated 250a... Mabie 200??

Fuse between both batts.

If it shorts then you still have a live shorted connection going to the second battery. Aka burn your car down.

okay from what i heard, the fuse should match the amp, my amp has (3) 40A fuses, which is a total of 120A. So i got (3) 0 gauge ANL fuse holders with (3) 120A fuses. I will be running a second battery, a small Stinger SPV20, so i plan on putting 2 fuses between the front and back battery within a foot. then the other will go from the + alt to +bat.

also i heard you do not need to fuse the amp from second battery if your amp has built in fuses.
