I was thinking about going with a pair of 8's as well. I think both those amps would fit under the seats also. What would be the way to go on wiring the p1000 and the subs and also any ideas on ported boxes. Any good prefabs or would customs be the way to go
if you were to use the 8" subs I referred you to, they would be wired parallel to 2 ohms on that amp for about 375-400w each. Custom would be the way to go. I believe @pro\-rabbit; can do box designs and I could if I had my other laptop handy atm. If you post in here:
Enclosure Design & Construction Help , you will probably get some help on designing some ported boxes for whatever you choose. If in the next couple of days you have decided and still need help, I can run some numbers for you.
i have no problem fabing them i just dont know about porting as it relates to size, depth, etc.
a ported box will usually be larger in net volume than a sealed box, this is the primary reason for us suggesting 8" subs, a small ported box. In your situation, the best route is probably going to be using PVC piping (probably 2-3", maybe 2" aero) through the top of the box or the bottom corner facing the corner of the cab for best results, but I am just speculating atm because there are some good folks here who might have a better plan for you, if you are good with wood.. Porting will increase the box efficiency dramatically and IMO, done right, sounds better than sealed and will be 2x as loud (or more)
