Upgrade soon, opinions...

Currently Im running a single L5 12 in a custom box, made by Mobile Enclosures, great builder btw, will not hesitate to buy from him again, and a single 9105D amp.

After having the custom box built, I realize I want more. Don't get me wrong, this **** bangs hard on the higher notes, but seems to lack down on the low end.

Now, I want to upgrade, BUT, keep my electrical stock(excluding yellow top under hood and Big3) I have a "130 A/HR" Alt, good grounds, and 4 guage already run.

I wanted to get some opinions on how much harder you guys think 2 DC lv3/ SA-12's w/ an AQ1200D will bang then what I have already... Going in a Grand Cherokee.

Will that amp be overkill for the factory electrical? I want the system that makes your chest hurt and hard to breathe, all while never worrying about burning up batts/alts...

What do ya think?

My breathing was affected off my single TC 15 on 1500 watts, didn't hurt though.

If you want bass to hurt, I'd look at putting at least 3k on those pair of 12s. 1200 watts on them should get decently loud, but probably not the loudness you are looking for.

Since you got a Grand cherokee, why not go with a pair of 15s instead? You have the room for them and they will have more output (if in a proper box) compared to the 12s.

Yea, see Im worried 3kw on a daily driver will require an full electrical upgrade, which I really don't want to do, since it would take me like a year to piece all of it together.

Im not opposed to 15's, however, I would still like some room to put things in the back, after all, it is my "groceries getter" lol. I figured some quality 12's would get louder and just as low as 15's given the amount of power Im looking to run. I think 1200w+- it about the max my factory stuff can handle. I am def. open to opinions and not set in stone on what I want though. Ima be piecing it together, so Im not in any rush..

Figured this time I would do it right and talk with you guys, vrs going into the shop and buying off the shelf crap...

Well your 12s can get louder and lower than some 15s, but that's all enclosure dependent. If both enclosures are good, the bigger sub of the same line will get louder and lower, but thats not to say the 12s aren't going to get loud.

You should see a world of difference going from an L5 to two SA 12s. 1200 watts will do them good, and should get loud, but if you're looking for something that actually hurts when sitting in it, you'll need more power.

With a 130 amp alternator, I'd say you'd be able to get by with running 2000 to 2200 with another battery in the back and the big 3 done in 0 gauge. 2000 watts to a pair of SA 12s will definitely do nicely, and could possibly hurt if playing the right frequencies, but it will also depend on your tuning.

If you can spend a little extra, I'd look into getting an AQ2200D and an extra battery and a little more wiring. I think you would be much happier with the end result.

i have a cadence beastmaster 15 it will get plenty loud for you off 1500rms which a 130amp alt will handle fine

subs are entirely hand built in the us and use to sell for 600 back in 04, i have a brand new one 200 bucks shipped, you will never find a new one again
