I have two dd 1512s and am thinking about buying my friends jl 1000 to push them. It's a price I can't pass up. But after telling him I'd buy it , I read they are crazy current hogs. I have a BMW so the battery is in the back. And I was kinda glad that I didn't have to run power wire from the front to back. But I'll have to anyway if I do the big 3. Is it absolutely necessary to upgrade big 3 for these amps? Or should I be OK with the stock electrical?

Why is this posted in the classifieds section?

It's your first post.. couldn't you at least read where to put it? Let alone the rules?

With that being said... run the amp, check the voltage.. if it drops, do big 3. You should run a volt meter from your amp anyway so you can keep an eye on it.

Big 3 always helps. The most important part is fixing the weak factory grounds that normally don't even have the paint removed. Those amps are one of my favorite but yes they are massive current hogs. It's more power than you need so you should be ok backing it down

Sorry man. I have an old crappy straight talk phone and its hard to navigate webpages. Thanks for the reply tho
No excuses man.

I'm just playing haha, Big 3 is always a good idea.. but I strongly recommend watching the voltage and adjusting from there.. I had a Pontiac G6 which had a rear stock battery running a fosgate t1001bd and didn't have an issue, didn't run big 3 either.. sure youll be fine

What all ground connection s do you mean? The battery ground and alt ground?

Also dd1512s are rated 500wats rms each right? Can the jl push more than 1000 as rated? Sorry for the noob questions

DD 1500s can take the juice I had a pair of MA HK4000Ds in my CRX on 4 DD 1508s so about 1800 rms each ...back when there was a DD forum soundpresdure.Com I posted pics and all sorts of info on the DD subs ..now the new DDS are Chinese junk and I wouldn't trust 300 watts on the one that took its place but the old ones were built like tanks

The new ones are still US parts. Hell I got 2k going to the 2508. It's fine for a few bass heavy songs full tilt.

Alt, battery, and chassis grounds. The JL will do a clean 1000. No more. It will be a good combo.
