Upgrade Audio System

Hello //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif , I’m kind a new at car audio, and I’m looking for some advice about upgrading my audio system, here’s what I got at the moment on my 90 Maxima, 2sub- 10” kicker CV-R’s amp 2ch performance teknique 1000w, 4 – 6.5” 400w performance technique – amp audiofonics 4ch 1100w, HU Pionner 7700MP, I thought PT was a good brand but a lot of people have told me is not, and after listening to eclipse’s and boston’s I guess I was having such a bad set of spkrs, actually I guess the only good stuff I have is the HU and the Subs, also the guy who install this audio system did a dirty work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif , my doors only fit 4x6 but he took out the panel harness and hang with one screw a 6.5, and wiring is also a problem, he used some cheap wire (like the one from headphones). I don’t even know the gauge he used. Unfortunately my knowledge is not very advanced about this stuff, but I don’t want to give my car to another lazy guy who will not do a clean and tidy work and I want to do it myself. I’ve read the stickies and some other stuff and I feel I can do it, the only problem is that I don’t inderstand some specs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif , but first things first, what should I upgrade, first thing on my mind is the set of speakers, but not sure if I should stay on 4x6 for the doors or is it a really big boost to use 6.5 instead of 4x6, about the rear spkrs I’m willing to get 6x9 but again not sure if this are really better than 6.5 or not. Also the amps I was looking for a good article to learn how to setup the controls because I have no idea about the gain and stuff, and should I keep the amps I have or I guess depends on what I’m getting for the spkrs, I always like to have 4 channel Amp for an independent channel for each spkr, correct me if this isn’t the best way. btw budget is also an issue (around $500 atm) but any suggestions are welcome, Ok guys I really appreciate any advice, I know some questions may sound silly but I’m trying to learn this stuff and have a pretty decent sound system on my car, thank you for your time.

4 x 6.5” 400w Performance Technique

Audiofonics 4ch 1100w

2 x 10” Kicker CV-R

2ch Performance Teknique 1000w

Thought Performance Teknique was a good brand but after listening to Eclipse and Boston, they ****. The guy who installed my system did a bad job and rigged everything. I dont know much about car audio but I want to do the next install myself. What should I upgrade? Budget is around $500. TIA

First of all, sorry about the way it was typed. Second, if this isn't a generic installation help then what it is? where is the right place to ask?

How many times I should say i'm new at car audio and the forums, and I think if there's something wrong with the thread that's why there are moderators, webmasters or whatever they are called at a forum. Webmaster: Please let me know if this is a wrong place to ask this and let me know the right place and close this thread.

Well, back in the subject, to be more specific I would like to upgrade my speakers along with the wiring. What I don't like? well the sound of my speakers aren't good enough, bass is ok but i was looking for an opinion if there's some improvements i can make but don't know how. That's why if someone could tell me how can i take full advantage of what I have or what is the better upgrade to notice a really good boost in the sound.

System is ok but I know it could be better.
