Unusual Type-R question

I ordered an amp last week for my 05 Type-R 12 and it came faulty so I had to send it in for an exchange. I currently have my sub in a 2.2 cube ported box tuned to 34 hz and I have it hooked up to my home theater reciever and I was just wondering if having the sub hooked up as a normal speaker and playing higher frequencies could hurt it. The reciever is pretty beefy but I can't see it putting out more then around 100 watts. The sub is wired to 2 ohms.

umm, is this for home theatre or car applications?

are you playing it higher then the recomended freq's? i think on the alpine site it says something like 24hz to 500hz?? you sending a full signal to it? or just a lowpass signal?
