unfamiliar amp territory

I didn't want to resort to yet another, "which amp" thread, but I'm feeling defeated and need help. I just got 2 IDQ 10"s dual 4 ohms and realized they can't be wired to my 2ohm amp. There are a lot of opinions on mono vs 2channel bridged and I need some suggestions. Image Dynamics recommends 50-300 watts rms for these subs. I found a good deal on a phoenix gold 600.1 online ($250 shipped, NIB) that will give me the 600 watts at 4ohms that I ideally want. What I need to know is if I should consider any other options. What are some reliable 2 channel amps that I get get enough power out of bridged, and if so what are the advantages of going this route. I have never had a two sub set up before so this is all new to me. I was under the impression that one of the big advantages to going with a 2 channel is cost, but for $250 is there any 2 channels that should keep me from buying the 600.1? Thanks in advance for any input.

There is no difference between a two and one channel amp... The speakers don't know or care how many channels you have. Only thing is, if you wanted a Class D, most of those are only available in mono.

Phoenix gold amps are good for the money, but an even better deal... Panasonic has a two-channel I've seen as low as $73 on ebay... it's 700 watts RMS into 2 ohms. Has to be the all-time watts per dollar winner.

Only other consideration... higher order crossovers, such as 18 or 24 db instead of the usual 12db, can sometimes help deliver the up-front bass illusion (except in a single cab pick-up).

Thanks, if anyone else has any suggestions I am all ears. I really want something reliable. I'll buy used as long as the brand is solid and the amp is in good shape. I think anywhere from 500-600 watts will do nicely. There are so many amps out there that I'm hoping for personal recommendations.
