Understanding wire guage and distribution blocks

Im new at this can anyone explain to me in laymans terms ,

I have a 1000 4CH amp which drives my mids 4ch x 75RMS @ 4ohm

and a 1400 RMS D class Mono block for my bass Hifonics @ 1ohm

The bass amp needs 2 gauge ok No problem I can buy a wiring kit run 2 gauge from the battery up front to the amp no problem.

But in hooking up my second amp the JCV it uses 8 Guage.

In looking into distribution blocks if I use the 2 guage wiring kit. the Block will provide an output of 2x 4 guage wires.

Does this not now step down my minimum requirement on my bass amp from 2-4 and will increase my mids amp from 8-4.

How is this all possible is it ok how does it work ?

if I were to make my own distribution block , can I use 2 gauge from the battery to the peice of aluminum, and then use what ever guage of wire I need for my amps going out ?

if I make my own i could potentially connect other lights etc to the bolts ?
