I want to get 2 subs rated at 300W rms each. My amp only powers 75W per channel(2-channel amp). Will this be very bad underpowering the subs? and could it cause damage?
x2It won't be very loud. You'd prob be better off getting a single sub and bridging it to that amp. Its not bad to underpower as long as you are not giving it a clipped signal (having the settings off/gain too high etc). What does that amp bridge at? I'd assume around 150wrms @4o

Yes, I actually just broke my volume knob off with it at max volume so I know no accidents will happen with other people in the car turning it down without realizing the consequences of their actions//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif are you being serious?

thats what i was saying, he should have about 300w to work with so run one sub similar to a cvr or use two decent lower powered subs if he dont plan to upgrade. he can always add another cvr later when he upgrades the amp.OP, what's you aim here?
If you are looking to build a nice box and load it with some subs that can handle much more later, then do just that... buy & build the enclusure/subs that you want and just feed them the power you have, untill you upgrade on power.
If you intend to build this setup and leave it that way, why not use a single 8 or 10 that's designed for 200W RMS or so and feed it your 75 x 2 bridged to 1. you should still get some bump and you can keep most of your trunk space! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
even fully clipped a 75w amp isn't capable of damaging a 300w sub.
you won't get much output, but it's not going to hurt anything.
Fwiw - there are plenty of 500-600w monoblocks on ebay for
You would be surprised what you can do with 75-100 watts ish
