Why is this so hard for people to understand? There are "typical" cause-and-affect scenarios for that. Like the closer you come to IB the less power it takes to move a speaker. And the lower frequency they play, the more excursion per watt.I love you, man... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
HEAT kills voice coils... that's only ONE way to "blow" a speaker though... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
OVEREXCURSION is the OTHER way.
And - you can exceed the excursion capabilities of just about any speaker with much less than 'rated' power... given free reign over the design of that enclosure and frequency being played, that is... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I can only conceive of blowing RE8's with 40 watts if the sucker was not mounted at all, and playing 10 Hz.
