Under powered?

So I have an old Alpine MRP-F300. (50 watts RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms or 75 RMS x 4 @ 2 ohms)

I am looking to buy:

A pair of Infinity Kappa 62.9I 6.5"s. (75 RMS @ 2 ohms each)

A pair of Infinity Kappa 693.9I 6x9"s. (110 RMS @ 2 ohms each)

Would I be under powering the 6x9"s even with proper gains or is this setup okay?

That being said I should be fine with 6.5"s rated at 110 RMS too correct? Like all four speakers rated at 110 RMS on the same 75 RMS x 4 amp?

Are 6x9"s really that bad? Thats what fits in the rear deck of my car 6.5s seem too small for back there. I was considering going with some components (if thats what you mean by splits?) for up front; even tho I already have a pair of tweets with their own amp I was planning on using. Got any recommendations that would accommodate my amp nicely? I do not want a sub in this car for right now at least.

6x9's are good speakers, just not for bass. You'd be much better off throwing a 10" sub in a sealed box if you're looking to add a little bass.

I have a Memphis 16MCD-1000 (1100 RMS @ 1 ohm) that I am saving for maybe an SA-10. Just trying to upgrade the speakers in the car right now and do the sub later down the line if ever.

Should I consider 6.5's for the rear? Ditch 6x9s all together?

Okay after some research I think I'm gonna go with:

Front.

Image Dynamics CTX-6.5cs components (100 RMS @ 4 ohms each) and bridge an Alpine MRP-F300 to give them 150 RMS each @ 4 ohms.

Rear.

Image Dynamics CTX-69 6x9's (100 RMS @ 4 ohms each) and power them with an old school Alpine 3523 I have lying around puts out ~40 RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms (from the 80s some people say it puts out more, I don"t know)

I might add a sub later, I just wanna upgrade speakers now and get the best sound without buying any more amps.

Would I be okay powering this setup like this with proper gains? Would I have too much front stage? I don't like the idea of completely ditching rear speakers which is what I found a lot of people suggesting. My car is huge and I don't think front speakers alone will fill the cabin with sound.

If your not going to do a sub then definately go for 6x9's they will get you a lower frequency response than 6.5's. If your planning on a somewhat simple system I would consider something more like your original post, 2 ohm speakers all around. powerbass L2 lineup is all 2 ohm stuff as well. Contemplate sound deadening while you do the speakers if your not going to be adding a sub.

i am sorry to interrupt your discussion but i hope to receive your advice for my gear as i am now facing similar problem with you

mine include Alpine MRX-F35 with 55W x 4 at 4Ohm, but i chose Morel Tempo 6 which capacity is rather high at 90Rms (maximum 120Rms).

I am just afraid the difference capacity between amp and speaker. I intend to make the bridge in my amp for 170W x 2, but then i cannot use this amp for the rear speaker.

Someone says that the capacity of speaker and amp sometimes differents and 55w still can work well with my Morel even it is 90W.

pls give me your advices

tks

if your going to put a sub in later on, i'd suggest 6.5"coax speakers for the rear. I've found 6x9's and a sub in the same system makes it sound muddy or sloppy...

it is better to over power a speaker than to underpower one, whats the peak on your morels? do they have a max rms rating?
