Uh-oh...scary x-max results in WinISD

Well, I've been tinkering with different ideas. I haven't really ever used winISD but seem to have gotten it figured out in the last couple hours.

When I clicked on the "cone excursion" drop down, I got this:

coneexcursion1.jpg

Now, I'm scarily assuming this is a true representation of what my subwoofer's excursion will be. Right? It is set to "peak" on options. It's only supposed to go to 29mm (as denoted by the red horizontal line). I get nearly the same results with JL's specs: 36hz, 1.75 cubes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Note: The white graph is ported plans, and yellow is sealed. The white one is the one I'm speaking about.

well thats cuse it's below the box tuning.
I was just about to post that I didn't realize which frequency that was at.

I'd be setting the subsonic filter at the tuning anyway.

Whew...I got skeeered. Haha. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Ya, I think the program is assuming u'll be using the same amout of power all the way thro, and it wouldn't suprise me if it tried to extend to 50mm + at 17hz without a subsonic filter.

Looks right, peaked around 31-32hz.

Alright.

Should I be getting such a low excursion @ the tuning frequency? Seems backwards from what I understood tuning to be.

Looks like I have some more reading to do...

Ur gettin peak excursion at what ur tuned to. U sure ur reading the graph correctly? U have the box tuned to 32hz, ur subwoofer is gonna hit its 29mm peak excursion at 32hz. I dont see whats wrong with that.

Edit: Actually it doesnt look like it peaks till about 25hz.

usually the woofer will only slightly move at or around box tuning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yea, I had just changed the tuning since the initial post. Sorry for the confusion.

What didn't make sense to me:

I thought the peak excursion would be the point at which the subwoofer hit the highest number, and 29mm would be the nominal excursion. Am I just thinking opposite of what I am seeing? In this case, the lowest point is at the tuning frequency, so that's the peak excursion?

I edited it after i looked more closely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
