typer r vs. solo baric !!!help

if u built to each woofers optimum enclosure and powered it right i dont think there would be that great of difference either way you went. too many variables to lean it one way or the other. i agree in a sense with nova with capabilities but those come with alot of power lol big diff between 1500 watts and 20000. its all about the niche you are trying to fill

Hmmmm, maybe because the MT is a little more established in the competition circuit? What a concept.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
All of us that run the type-r's have one thing in common, we are poor and aren't sponsored. Therefore, we have to find the things that work the best on our budget. Sure, toss me an RE sponsorship and i'll get loud with them. But as long as i have to buy all my own equipment, i think i'll take the type-r seeing as it performs just as well as subs costing 3x as much.

And FYI, one 12" type-r off a viper 2500.1@1 ohm, 147.5 on the dash sealed up on the A/C 190. Which was tested to be only 4/10ths off from the termlab. This setup was in the trunk of a taurus BTW. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
in a "typical" TCAB box at that... nothing fancy about it.

Give it some time. There's nobody here with type-rs in a traditional wall. Not to mention the type-rs don't like high fart notes, the place where most (if not all) cars break 160.
If somebody has the time and the money, it could most certainly be done. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And for cheaper than it would for an MT install, seeing as you can get 3-4 type-rs for one MT. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Like i've said many times before, don't knock em until you try em. Many people have been very surprised by the potential of these subs. The whole forum boner thing just gave them a really bad rep because EVERYONE was posting type-r threads. If this shit never got out of hand, i think more people would be taking us seriously. Come to MECA finals and see a few type-r installs wang it out hard and bring home some big trophies. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
i'm not TOO far off 160's with my 2 12's at a nice low note... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

thats alright, its all about the headrest wang, which it puts out alot.

gaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwdddddddddddddd this shit is getting old.

the type-r is the loudest sub on teh earth

tcab boxes are the bestestest/loudest boxes evr

spkrman knows all

can we get past this bs already? j/c

I've said it before...sponsorships don't mean jack shit when it comes to subs...people will use whatever is loudest in their install...period. Good friend of mine was sponsored by a certain company and actually pulled the dustcap off of this companies sub and put it on another one so they didn't give him shit at a show...

I'll go ahead and agree with you. It's whatever works in your install. For me(and many others), it has been the type-r. Is it the end-all-be-all of subs? No. But does it work **** good and put up big numbers? Yes, in the right install.

It's a cheap sub thats loud, whats not to like about it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

its not bad at all thing is people dont look at is how a product used propperly will end up getting a good result. heck ill almost lay money sony takes a top 5 trophy at finals this year. its all in how u design it. when i say that i really mean the guys that win would probably win 70% of the time at least reguardless what they would run. its about smarts.

ran with an amp rated with the RMS of the woof, sure... but tyipcally that wont yield more than 600-700 watts, at the most, and thats about the limit in a big low tuned box.
The l7 bottoms out before the type R does - and the R does more with its movement at a low note, this was found through objective testing,
Bottoming out in a larger ported box, true, power decreases, anyone knows that. Problem is, most street kids, or compeitors will exceed the power recommendations done by the manufacture in comps to win. Any sub can make or break it, depending on power, enclosure. 'If' it bottoms out, does not mean the Type R is a betetr driver at 25hz. By the way, the Type R from Alpines states (down to 25hz and L7 20hz) But the L7, in our own testing, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif can play well into the 30's hz range. My solo X was ported to 32hz with 2660 watts daily, so I know this to work flawless.

If the Type R works for you, bigo...you have found your dream woofer. To many other in street classes, the L7 works best for them. Now if you want to bring your loud car to dbDrag finals and see how it stacks, well, guess I'll see ya in a couple weeks..................

also, PS, your truck doing 160's is totally diffrent that dbDrag rules, correct me if I'm wrong, totally different that what most people I wouild belive are thinking, as most go of Dbdrag rules...
