Of course it depends on tuning... but if your talking about a peak below 45hz, the type R will be louder and sound better doing it. The l7 bottoms out while the R just keeps on goin.

ran with an amp rated with the RMS of the woof, sure... but tyipcally that wont yield more than 600-700 watts, at the most, and thats about the limit in a big low tuned box.

The l7 bottoms out before the type R does - and the R does more with its movement at a low note, this was found through objective testing,

Give it some time. There's nobody here with type-rs in a traditional wall. Not to mention the type-rs don't like high fart notes, the place where most (if not all) cars break 160.

Like i've said many times before, don't knock em until you try em. Many people have been very surprised by the potential of these subs. The whole forum boner thing just gave them a really bad rep because EVERYONE was posting type-r threads. If this shit never got out of hand, i think more people would be taking us seriously. All of us that run the type-r's have one thing in common, we are poor and aren't sponsored. Therefore, we have to find the things that work the best on our budget. Sure, toss me an RE sponsorship and i'll get loud with them. But as long as i have to buy all my own equipment, i think i'll take the type-r seeing as it performs just as well as subs costing 3x as much.

And FYI, one 12" type-r off a viper 2500.1@1 ohm, 147.5 on the dash sealed up on the A/C 190. Which was tested to be only 4/10ths off from the termlab. This setup was in the trunk of a taurus BTW. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I've said it before...sponsorships don't mean jack shit when it comes to subs...people will use whatever is loudest in their install...period. Good friend of mine was sponsored by a certain company and actually pulled the dustcap off of this companies sub and put it on another one so they didn't give him shit at a show...
