Type X

I bought a Type X sub and i'd like to know if there's anything I should know about this sub that'd be important. One question I have is how much "work in" time should I give it? How many watts? 1000w RMS at 2 OHM with the Alpine MRD-M1005? How do they sound? A real good/bad sub? Thanks guys.

im thinking your going ported with the one sub? If so anything between 800-1000 watts should well enough for the sub, jus set the gains correctly. That alpine amp should be just perfect for the sub

Ported deffinatly helps. My friend Blake (Alpineinstaller on CA.com) has a type X 12 with an MRD-1005. The other day we took out his sealed 2 cube box cut some holes and added some 4 inch aero ports...and he gained a good bit of output. As "break in" time is concerned technically your are suposed to be able to take them right out of the box and play them as loud as you want...but I always give my subs a day at 1/2 volume just to loosen up the suspension a little, but thats just me.

Actually it's going to go where my back seat is. I'm taking the seat out, making a back board with someone else (who is a professional at this) and i'm going to turn my trunk into the box, LOL. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

i know I may get flamed for this but I thought you didn't want a loose suspension on the sub? I thought the tighter the suspension the better. I dunno maybe I'm just confused on this.

The suspension on a sub is going to loosen up no matter what, by playing the sub gently for one day it gives the spider and surround time to break in and loosen up.

But im over protective of my equipment...most car audio enthusist just crank it up right out of the box...and there is nothing wrong with that

So i'm taking it should sound pretty sick in the back where my seat is with two holes on each side (for the light to shine through)? With my two amps on the bottom below it. And by the sounds of it, it should sound better then my 2 Alpine Type R 4 OHM subs powered by about 300w RMS in a ported box?

Realistically, I know people hate when this is asked, do you think it's very possible to hit above 140 dbs?.... that's my goal... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

its all in the box design. I don't know the wattage from the amp. If you have a very nice/roomy/designed correctly and tuned correctly you could very well get that close.

I'm hoping to hit the high end of 140 with my setup and I have a huge *** box. But I'm afraid I won't hit that. I will probably have to redo the box at least 1 more time.

I also wanted to know what's a good song to use in competitions? I need one with a TON of bass.... The best I have is Ludacris's Intro of The Red Light District.

The amp is 1074w RMS on the birth sheet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hopefully it sounds better then my old subs... (in my sig) Yes, there's just 1.

If you are going to go compete then you will be playing test tones not music most likely. http://www.realmofexcursion.com Click on Downloads and try out some of those test tones. Put them all on a CD and label it and sit in there while playing through to figure out which is loudest. If you have access to a mic than you could do that more accurately.

Let me know how this turns out. I have never seen anyone run a type x IB before. I would be interested in hearing the outcome. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
