Type X= 1500wrms or 1000wrms?

They'll do fine on either. I'd get the 1000 personally. You wont' really gain any SPL by getting the extra 500 watts, especially since kicker underrates, you'll see full potential with the 1000.

i dont have a type x but i do have a few 1500.1;s and you will LOVE it. it gives you lots of choices for subs in the future and is a great amp IMO

Type X's are NOT type R's.. they are rated extremely accurately and they wont respond well to getting above there RMS... seriously

I got a type X to reek of coil out the *** after about 5 minutes of hard playing, running it just off a JL 1000/1.. i wouldent try another 500+ watts

dude thats just the extra glue, mine did the same thing. (it goes away) They can handle 1500 without a problem

1% distortion is several orders below being audible in subbass. Impedence rise won't necessarily save you all the time, it's not some type of catch all throw as much power on it as you want type of phenomenon. I think that's the impression many are getting, since honestly, only a handful of people on this forum knew what imp. rise as of 6 months ago. I rarely heard it mentioned except in rare instances followed by "whats that" from a random member. (not bashing you, just saying it's being thrown around a bit much, IMO) Regardless, even with imp rise, he's getting more than 1000 watts out of that amp, the extra power, even with imp rise is likely to not be noticeable. Let alone with the extra chance of damaging the driver if he gets a short moment of slight stupidity. However, like I already said, if he sees himself upgrading, he might as well get something bigger, if his electrical can handle it.

your gain was prob too high

its about cooling the coil and coil size

10 and 12 type r = 2'' coil and will do 1000 rms all day long

10 and 12 type x = 3'' coil will do ???? all day long

same basket on both on them for cooling so you do the math
