type r popping?

Im going to tell you that I think you have the gain WAY TO HIGH. I have mine set at 2.5 with Type R 15 running at 2 ohm @ 47volts. Did you do you set the gain with a dmm? Btw, what you described to me means you blew one of the coils.

popping doesnt mean you blew one of the coils...my old L7's did it once ina while...means you have TOO MUCH POWER on them...bottoming out is a bish. lower your gains.

okay ... if i put my amp to 2.5 at 12 volts i wont even hear bass from the sub my sub isnt ****ed up is it ?
You may need to run 1.5...Let put it this way, on my HU (alpine) at 20/35 volume I dont really hear the sub that much. Thats what you are looking for...If you get what i mean.. You should def check out the gain setting tut.

The volt meter on the amp isnt always totally accurate.

Depends on how much voltage his preouts on his HU is on justifying how high his gain should be set on the amp. Some of you may be running 6.5 volt preouts, to where he is running 2 volt preouts.
