Two subs, one amp?

So I'm confused on how you go about setting this up and the numbres involved, I tried some googling and searching but couldn't quite figure it out.

So my amp is

1150W RMS @ 2ohms...

If I wanted to run two subs a piece would it be splitting the power in half over the subs so easy sub would get roughly 550W? And how would I wire it?

I have no understanding of this and I am trying to learn.

I don't have the subs because I don't want to end up getting ohms/voice coils that end up not working well with the amp, so I figured I'd ask the question

If your amp does the most power at 2ohms, and you want 2 subs, get either single 4ohm or dual 2ohm subs.

OK. reasearching "ohms law" will also help you understand circuits(series and parallel) and power distribution throughout circuits. google "ohms law"

yeah right as I read your post I had just figured that out, that part I can understand, series/parallel and ohms, but I can't figure out how the wattage works...

since I'm at 1150W RMS, what kinda sub RMS watts should I have or how can I figure it out?

OP guess is right, each sub will get half the power, look for subs in the 500-600w RMS range

Power is divided evenly among the woofers, so 1/2 to one and 1/2 to the other.

Depends on a lot of things, but more often than not the dual sub setup will win out.
