Two month old Pioneer GM D9601 started smoking

have been running a pioneer gm d9601 mono amp for about 2 months now with no problems. Pushing an alpine type r 10 in a 2ohm load. Amp gain is on normal. Today driving home with volume on half max if that. My sub stopped working and the amp got so **** hot it started smoking. The light on the amp stayed blue and never went into protect. Any reason why an amp would all the sudden do that? I do have it mounted on a sub box partition in my c6z.

I also tried to get a reading off the amp to the sub and was getting 0 voltage. I even tried reading the rca from the head unit and was also getting 0 voltage (I think I tested the rca correctly. Took negative to the circle part and the positive to the prong part). I also took the negative off the amp that goes to the sub and tapped it a few times on the negative terminal abnd I could hear the sub make a click click noise.

Gain was set to high so u clipped the sub to death. This also makes the amp draw more current than usual which prolly resulted in a low voltage situation which caused your amp to fry, or when the coils on the subs smoked the short circuit may have fried the sub

If the sub was blown would I not be able to read "ohms" coming from it. That showed 2.1 ohms or so. I think the amp is prob fried. If its under warranty would they replace it cause in the owners manual it says if the gain is set to high the amp will go into protect before it blows anything. I could also test the sub on my 4 channel right or would that not work?

How can I test if the sub/amp are both fried?

To add some extra info. I have a brand new 4 channel Pioneer amp with 1200max watt on 1 channel. Could I run this amp to power my sub (if the sub isn't blown)?
