So yeah, I picked up two 12" re re for my first sound system in my 2000 sunfire. I have no idea what to do for the amp however...The subs are dual 4 ohm, 175w 250max, so i'm probably going to feed each sub 200w. Any idea on a single amplifer that I can use to power both?

I assume I should use wiring option one...?:

I want to use 8gauge wire, since I am never going to go above 500w. Any help would be greatly appericated, as I know nothing about what i'm doing...

If You use the first option You would have alot more amplifiers to choose from.

Look for an Amplifier that is capable of 400watt RMS @ 1ohm (preferably rated at 12-13volts).

Depending on your box design, I wouldnt suggest 200rms to each woofer.

That is the beauty of DVC subs.....more wiring options //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You can look for an amp that does either 400w @ 1ohm, or an amp that does 400w @ 4ohm. Really opens up your options.

I could spend up to $250 on the amp, but the cheaper the better (while keeping quality that is).

I am more then likely going to port the subs, why would you suggest against 200 to each? What other options do I have?

I'm going to start looking (again) for some amps, and get back to ya when I find some decent ones. Thanks

Well, you can find some two-channel amps that will do 400w @ 4ohm for right around $100....I'd say that's pretty cheap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

As a matter of fact, THIS AMP would be perfect and shouldn't go for more than $135. Will do well over 300w and is stable into both 4ohm and 2ohm bridged mono //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif
