Two different subs?

Been going through these forums for a few months now answering my own questions, I've done the searchs but I cant find the answer to this.

I have a 12" Type-R running at roughly 550rms@4ohms on the alpine MRD-M850 amp in a ported mtx enclosure, and I'm quite satisfied with it. However, I just picked up a 12" type-x 1243 for cheap and im looking to either replace the type-r, or toss it in my trunk too.

How would is sound if I had two different subs in my trunk?

From all the searchs and readings, the type-x hits all the low's like no other ,and the quality is great, but it doesn't beat the type-r in loudness. I also have another MRD-M850 laying around that i could power the type-x with, would the type x need more power?.

I figured if I had both the X and R in the trunk, the x would hit all the lows that the R lacks of, and the type r would pretty much be there to add some quality.

Get a Dual ported box and stick em both in there?

Some opinions or suggestions would be nice, sorry about the noob questions.

Oh, I also have another 12" type-r brand new that im looking to sell, if the mix-sub in the trunk isn't suggested, should i just have both type-r's and resell the type-x?

what's wrong with using the 2 R's you have? instead of selling it.

well the type-x from what i read sound quality is alot better than the type-r. the type-r being more loud, but not as good quality

bull. sound quality is more in the install/design than anything. roll with the 2 type R's.

Thanks =) I'm gonna pop the type-x in when i get it to listen to it, if it does sound better I'm gonna sell the two type-r's and the amp and upgrade my speakers/stock amp, if not, i'll put in the two type-r's, resell the type-x and upgrade the components/amp

1 type x can't compare with 2 R's in being loud or sq. 2 R's will kick the crap out of the x. if SQ is what you want, build a sealed for the R's. it'll sound good and still be louder than 1 x.

your stuff is going to sound pretty weird but if thats what you want well go with it

Right now my power wires 4-guage - running 1 type-r.

So if i were to run 2 type-r's, ill need a distribution block, and that'd split my 4guage in 8guage? Will i need to upgrade my power wire to a 0/1? Capacitator?

i would run 0 guage and do the big 3 instead of the capacitor.
