you guys were talking about the pellets...believe it or not the feathers are so thick on the birds chest, unless you are really really close the pellets will never get threw..

basically if you chest shoot a turkey...it snows feathers and he falls down...you go over to pick him up and he gets up and runs off..LOL

Ummmm.....negative.

I have gotten pellet pass throughs (Through one breast, through the breast bone, lodged in opposite breast) at 50 yards with "hevi-shot" loads. (These loads are denser/heavier than normal lead loads and retain more energy). You can lose chest shot turkey if you don't get far enough back to hit the vitals and don't have a sufficient pattern.I really don't know what you consider the chest, so I won't go much further along..Right behind the beard, from the front part of the wing up, yes that MAY be a "dead zone". But pattern "fliers" should get pellets in the vitals/head/neck/spine. If a turkey is

ohhhhh my god..my dinner looks so insignificant now

I just wish I could share a bit with everyone here so they would gain some respect for this magnificent creature.

Pluck it, skin on (or add some fat from the cavity section), rub with oil, slow cook covered (or in the bag as pictured). Add 1/4 cup of white wine, dash of soy sauce, fresh onions and/or celery will add more moisture.

I'm a novice hunter, but I know how to cook anything.
I have only plucked one, and we deep fried it whole for Thanksgiving..So I can't really comment it how that works.

I cook them the way I posted and I will cut them into strips and deep fry them..I'll probably make a post in a few days when I do that with the other half breast.
