i have a tone generator on my laptop and my .5 inch speakers play down to 25 htz audibly so yes the size of the speaker doesn't dictate how low the speaker will go... if you put a 20 htz signal into a speaker it is going to cycle 20 times per a second... bottom line... the only thing is the less cycles the less air moved so a sub going 40 htz is moving twice as much air than a sub at 20 hz so smaller speakers don't hit lows like that loudly, but they still hit them, thats why the higher excursion is going to dictate how well any given 10 will hit the lows in the same enclosure... because the farther the cone is going 20 times per second, the more air it moves and the louder it isSo your gonna tell me my 4 inch computer speaker plays 20 hz? Shut up please.
edit: i had the notiocn one day to burn a 2 htz signal to a cd and put it in my car, low and behold, the subs moved 2 times per a second
edit number 2: i take it back, i had the setting for including 2x the base frequency included so it was actually 50 htz i could hear not 25, but that doesn't change the fact that the speakers do play it, just not loud enough to hear.
