:(Well I have an alpine 7995 and my tweets cut out at high volumes

The sub still sounds the same but the mids and tweets sort of back down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

if I turn it down the tweets will gradually regain thier sound and clean up but when I turn it back up the tweets fizz out.

I have an old school mtx amp and the gain is as far left as you can go (gain all the way down) and its still doing it

I have the CDT Es components

could it possilby be the cross overs limiting the tweets?

the amp is rated at 100rms per chan and the comps are like 150 per chan

so im not severly underpowering them

I dont know what to do.

better stuff????

I know the Es series isnt top of the line but its no flea market stuff either

i wonder why such a high powered set would over heat with not even its RMS being applied to it

thats what im saying the gain is alllllll the way down

I think its the headunit I got off a guy but its gotta lota issues

turns off when it wants, spits out cds.......sigh

oh well I guess I get to go HU shopping tonight

i have the CDT hd-62 components and my tweets will cutout at high volumes too. It is bc you need to upgrade the crossover to the .... SATNET EX-560i

How do you have the gains all the way down and still playing at ultra high volumes?

You know that you can clip the speakers from the HU as well right?

What volume do you play the HU at? For example : 50 out of 75 or something like that.

I think you should follow the gain setting guide. I'm really betting that most (if not all) of your problem is directly related to a clipped signal from your HU. You need to get the gains set correctly and then you won't have to turn that HU up so high.

If you have a DMM just use the formula and get this thing set right. Let the amp do the work.

im thinking its the actually HU

im at work but my boss is cool =) (hes semi into car audio)

I messed with all the settings but nothing helps after I turn it past about 23

POS ebayer!!!

Most decent passive crossovers have tweeter protection built in. When they get too much power or get too hot, they will cut out exactly as you described.
