Tweeter Blown What Now?

I just installed some Kenwood Excelon Dual Mags 6.5 components. I know Kenwood sucks but I have always liked the sound from these speakers. Anyways I don't know if I toasted the tweeter when I installed or if it was blown. I accidentaly grounded one of the leads with the sterio on low volume but I didn't smell anything or anything like that and it was pretty minor. (Usualy I turn things off but I was finishing and in a hurry to go out on a date. Anyways when I plugged the stuff in I noticed the tweeter had Nothing coming out of it, so I changed it to the other one and it sounds great.

So I assume the tweeter is dead. So now what? Buy a whole new set of components? they are the 60p's so they are the older version and not under waranty.

Can I just buy some tweeters that are not kenwood or do I need a whole new set of components? When I talked to kenwood they seemed to tell me buy a whole new set which seems stupid.

If I do need a new set are the eclipse components good? I'm happy with their and and HU and it would be nice to have everything the same unless you guys think it is a bad idea.

Here is a pic to my Passengers door I finished today. Never matted before so I hope this looks correct. I used RAAMAT and ensolite foam.

I had to make a custom Bracket for the speaker because the stupid titan comes with some screwy Rattle trap mounts that hold some crapy 2 ohm 6x9's. It was alot of work and I'm hoping I can just use some other kind of tweeter to fix this.

yep just pic up a new set up tweets and plug them into ur older X-overs, try CDT. http://www.thezeb.com sells them or u can get them from djdilliodon (aim) for a nice price also

Correct! Just look at some tweeters from any halfway decent company, and you should be fine. Heres some kenwood tweeters since you have kenwood.

just make sure your new tweeters have a smilar frequency response as the old ones.

Those Kenwood tweers are crap compaired to the one I have. Mine are 1 inch slink tweets. I'm starting to think I should just ditch these components since I doubt I will be able to find a matching tweeter wihtout buying a new set.

Are the Eclipse components any good? I have a 75 watt x2 RMS amp.

I hear there are some pretty sweet advances over the last 4 years as far as components.

I looked at the CDT Tweeters they are the same price as a new set of the components I have.

The only thing is for that price it looks like I almost might as well just buy a complete new set? What are your opinions? They have a different listed frequency response than my existing ones but who knows what the difference in sound would really be.

How much would I benefit from getting different speakers off my 75 wattx2 amp and running these in the rear doors off the HU instead?

I'm considering the following. If I go with replacements.

* Eclipse 2 way components, Eclipse 3 way components?

* Diamond Audio (not sure which modle) S600s or S600a? (from my experience 4 years ago I like the soft dome tweeters sound better)

*CDT HD's

Any others that are not outrageously priced? I'm not building a competition system, and will probably only be running 2 of the New Adire Koda 10's or Else sound splinter RLI 10's for woofers as that is all I can fit in a limited mounting depth.

Which of these will sound the best with my existing amplifier or do I really need a whole new amp? I'd really like to stick with the eclipse theme but I'm not sure how a titanium tweeter would sound compared to a silk tweet.

Please help me decide I'm tired of driving around with my door pannels off! lol

My dual mags would be nice filler sound to run off the HU for my rear doors, they sound very clean off the HU but there is hardly any midbass (as expected) which would be ok for fill sound IMO. They are super efficient too but I'm doubting I will be able to find a decent tweeter replacement.

I dumped $300 into RAAMAT sound deadener and spent another $300 on Knukonceptz so If I need to spend a little extra for better speakers that is OK unless My Best bet is jsut to buy these component tweets that are the new version of my existing ones.
