Turn On Lead

Alright this is my first ever setup. I just started today, got the wire through the firewall, and everything is going along nicely. Actually didn't think it was going to be this easy.

But I have a question. On my amp there is a input for REM, I suppose this is remote turn on lead. But the wiring kit I got said the RCA's had a built in turn on lead. So what should I do? Just leave the thing empty, or wire it in.

This is the kit I got

Bear with me if this sounds dumb to some, as I am new to this.

I don't know of many amps (any off the top of my head) that have an auto-sense on feature for rca inputs. Odds are you are going to need to wire the rem with a switched 12v input (basically any wire in the car that you can find that is 0v when the ignition is off and 12v otherwise ie accessory/ignition) or you can run the remote wire from the hu if it has one. Or maybe i'm not understanding right, i dont really know what knu is talking about with the turn on lead. But i'm pretty sure either way what ever amp you have, it won't turn on without 12v at the rem terminal...

that wire thats attached to the rcas... just pull a little (6 inches or so) of the remote wire from the RCA's on both ends. attach one end to the REM wire, and the other end to the amp.

the wire is attached for convienence.

Yeah pretty much, it is just there so that you dont have to run a separate rem wire from the hu, so splice it and hook all three to the hu (rca's and rem wire) then run it to the back connect the rca's of course and the rem wire to the amp rem terminal, nothing special really just a bit more convenient.

No, don't cut the wire out because your RCA will fall apart. Leave the wire there and connect it to the remote lead on the head unit side. On the amp side connect it to the remote connection on the amp. Attach another wire if it won't reach.
