turbo whistle or supercharger whine?

I love both, turbo race cars sound amazing, but for all the time, I'd take a supercharger....

but for all in all, give me a 540 with about 12:1 compression, large roller cam and 3.5" Flowmasters anyday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Add a 50 shot of nitrous so you dont have to wait for spool, thats what i did. turbo's are ALWAYS going to give more torque than a SC. The twin screws are nice, i wouldnt run one on FI cars though. A carb'd 427 with a blower is what i have in a 68 fast back stang, cant beat that sound. but if i was doing it again, the 427 cobra Jet with a 14:1 compression and 4 inch exahust is the way to go. But dont get me wrong i love my twins on my stang hehe.

Interesting, Im assuming you have a VW (dubbin...), my friend has a gti and he went with the diverter valve too. Isnt that just the same as a bov thats nonatmospheric? One that recirculates?
Anyways, yeah the SC whine might get annoying, but from what i've heard, you can do things to get ride of it, like the air intake is where alot of it comes from and if you have an aftermarket one the sound really opens up.

Im wondering if a SCed focus would sound good or not.
yea, DV just recirculates. with my intake, exhaust and DV...i love the sound...it roars pretty loud at high RPMs...now i need a bigger turbo so i can hear more spool:) but then again, i agree with boost is boost...i love boost!

yeah, my friend wants to put a garret gt32 turbo in his. Im wondering if its wise thing to do though. I know alot of honda guys that simply throw in the biggest turbo they can afford, which ends up screwing things up.

oh no no, tell ur buddy to do it right...alotta people, not to be stereotypical, are usually honda drivers that just dont know, or dont care to learn and research about stuff...you cannot simply slap on a larger turbo and be good to go. or run a BT setup, you will need other components, along with a upgraded computer.

Thats funny a kid I know wanted to pull a turbo off a deisel truck and put it on his crx. I told him have fun with that . I wouldnt do it but go ahead

considering he would have to intertwine a supercharger in the mix just to feed the turbo i would like to see that happen.

Personnally I love the sound of a Turbo spooling and the BOV and wastegate afterwards when letting off the gas, but like anything u need to find the right type of Turbo or SC for the setup of your car. Things people don't consider is researching and just want to slap on the biggest turbo or SC without thinking whether or not the engine can handle the power increase. Also a big turbo may not even be in the better interest such as a T-72. Something like a T-04Z can produce a lot of HP with much quicker spooling.

Slap him for me will you?

Even the old *** GM4 turbo found on the 6.5LTD on a meager 5psig is WAY too much for most gas v6'ers.

And if he is thinking about the turbo off of a cummin/powerstroke/duramaxx, I will personally kick him in the nuts. Those turbos are damn near too big for the 6+ liter engines they are on and only the variable vanes make them driveable.

Case in point on our powerstroke 6.0L of diesel with 570tq (@2000rpm) and 325hp (@3400rpm.) Truck checks in at 7800lbs curb weight with a 3.73 rear end or ford's equivelant gear. Go to a stop light, stop, (you are making a right), everythings clear, turn the wheel and mash the accellerator to the floor.

for the first second nothing really happens, the truck sloooowly starts moving, then the turbo spools and all hell breaks loose. Literally. Both rear tires light up and truck fishtails all over the place.

POINT BEING: at max rpm of 4000rpm, 32v, 6.0L, v8 has a tough time spooling a turbo of that size. Some stupid b16 wont have a snowballs chance in hell of spooling that turbo, much less supporting the kind of power that turbo will provide IF he could spool it! Damn ricers!
