Tuning ?

Say the amp is rated at 1000wrms at 2ohms. But you would like to only push the sub at 800wrms at 2ohms would you just tune it to that voltage or would it still push the 1000wrms at the lower voltage. Like instead of gain 3/4 of the way up out it at maybe 5/8 the way up.

Just get a multimeter

Unhook the speaker and play like a 40hz, -6db test tone. Put the multimeter leads in the outputs of the amp and crank the gains till you reach your desired voltage.

voltage=sqrt(power*resistance)

so in your case, sqrt(800*2)=40

So use the multimeter to make sure your gain is set to 40 volts AC.

So thatll work then no problem with anything. so for like 2000wrms out of 3000wrms it would be sqrt(2000*2) so it would be something like 62ish. And that wont hurt the amp or sub... Where can i get the -6bd test tones and how do i keep the sub fromt bottoming out
