Tuning my new Kenwood HU

I am looking to fine tune my new Kenwood 7705. It replaced a Bose OEM HU that used fiber optics. It has been suggested that i can use an RTA on my tablet and run a pink noise generator loaded on to my phone o play the file through the HU. Then i can use the EQ in the Kenwood to try and balance everything out

I have been having a ***** of a time finding the software for this - thought it would be easy to find this stuff these day

1. i found the Audizr that i could load on to my Surface Pro tab to look at the levels. Is this the right program for this? I havent found anything else. Seems to be a ton of apps for android and ios but not for my Surface (or any tablet for that matter)

2. is there a simple pink noise generator file that i can load on my phone and then stream on to my new HU??

Maybe i am going about this the wrong but any suggestions welcome

Thanks!

RTA on any tablet's onboard microphone will be complete utter garbage, the onboard mics are completely useless in any kind of audio measurement purpose.  You actually need a special calibrated RTA mic costing in the 80-120 dollar range and use with REW room eq wizard(free software on pc/mac) for actual RTA tuning.

You can create a pink noise mp3 file on audacity and load it up on your phone then stream it and take measurements on your laptop. Sorry but tablet doesn't cut it.

Nauc, thanks and yes complete newb!

Jeffdachef, thanks as well. If the tuning is useless without a $100 mic then i will just forego the whole thing. Thought it would be kind of cool to try but i dont really want to spend any more money on it - i will just use the EQ to set it where i like best by ear

Cheers

Thanks. Are these files that can be used in place of a pink noise generator file?

I found a mic that came with my home stereo set up that i can plug in to my laptop so will try that

Any suggestions on what RTA i can use on my Windows based Surface Pro? I have found REW (which seems very detailed) and Audizr. Just want something that shows at least 13 channels that i can match against my Kenwood EQ

Thanks

Thanks. I set up the pink noise file on a usb and played that through the stereo. I then used RTA on my droid to measure the sound in the cabin. Tried to flatten out any peaks/valleys with a bit more on the low end and having it tail off at the high end

Sounded like complete crap. Once i did the adjustments to try and (mostly) flatten out the peaks the EQ looked like a diagonal from the top left down to the bottom right. Horrible sound.

Throwing in the towel and will just adjust by ear.
