Tuning help

Noob question as I've never run mids/highs on an amp before.

Just put my old Alpine 9831 in with a Kicker KX650.4 running a set of Focal Polyglass 6.5" comps.

I've read somewhere on here that you can use the crossovers in the HU and turn off the XOvers on the amp. Where should I set the XOvers on the HU and do I touch anything on the amp? (gain, etc.)

Sorry for the noob question, but I don't wanna eff this up trying to "tune by ear" with no knowledge at all.

Would setting the HU XOvers be based on the specs of the speakers?

Also, this HU has a 4 Band EQ. Any info on setting each band there?
