tuning frequency for dd1008a

Want to start building a box fro three dd1008a but dont know what to tune it to? will be for a daily driver, listen to mostly rap and hip hop with r&b and reggeaton now and then. dd site say max is 3 ft^3 48" port opening and 20 inchs long which is about 40 hz is that best or tune lower?

that tuning should be good.

imo, id tune it to aroud 35hz or so.

that is what i was thinking around 35-37 but wasnt sure how it would effect the subs. but as long as it is safe that is the route i will go

how low to make a good ground pounder? i like the kickers i have now but the sealed application is not doing it for me. want to feel the bass a lil more

so this is what i came up with so far any input will be appriciated looking to start this box maybe friday or monday morning.

net volume 2.69 after subs and port

tuned to 35 hz

43.5 port area (14.5*3)

26.5 port lenth

so what u think? go bigger? tune lower? or about right?

option 2 for a bigger box:

net volume: 2.89 after subs and port (max i could do)

port area: 69.75

port length: 37.75

tuned frequency: about 37

better first box i had planed or number two?

your second box has too much port area IMO....

yea think i am doing the fist one. i have it drawn out on the MDF. gonna start cutting tomorrow morning hoping to have it all ready by the 17th

^^^ imo, in my wifes car i have a 1508 in 1 cuft with 19" of port and its just pure:drool:. the first box with only 16" of port just didnt do it for me.

to the op, imo the first box sounds better. the subs will play very good 1/2 octave below tuning. so a tuning at 35 hz should be good to about 25hz or so.

if you realy want the 20hz range(there isnt must in that range though) you may want to tune to near 30hz. you will loose some in the 50 to 80hz range but it should sound very, very good. in general, low tuned boxes usually have a flatter and smoother responce.

hmmm i think for now i am gonna run the first box and see how i like it. if it doesnt please i have been thinking about running a beastly 15 or i will make the box for the 8s bigger and tune lower.
