they are ref to a ported or bandpass box. it is the freq at which the port is tuned. making the port bigger-smaller-longer-shorter changes the freq of the port

How do i know if the port in my box is tuned right for my specific sub? thanks for any help

it doesn't really tune to the sub RATHER you tune the port to the sound that you like
