Hey I have a 99 honda someone had an old pioneer deck into it so the old cars wiring harness was cut and wired into the pioneer deck, I cut that and was trying to wire in my new jvc deck. I hooked up the ground and the yellow and the red and turned on the car to see if i have power and nothing at all. I tried hooking up the red and yellow to the yellow and nothing. Not sure what to do now I havent checked fuses not sure how to tell if there burnt. I dont have a current meter to read the power going to these wires. this ***** so bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I havent had music for two weeks now. I was trying to get it into futureshop but the techs cant take me till mid nov hoping to figure this out before hand. I will also be hooking up two 12 inch pioneer subs with a 600w amp. any help would be great thanks

I would check the fuse/change it out anyways first.Take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the radio fuse out,and put another in..Red-ignition/yellow-battery,memory/Black-ground/Solid blue-power antena/Blue;white-remote on,off for amps, ect,. Rest should be speaker wires. If the fuse doesnt work, you can always run another 14g wire to an unused outlet to the fuse panel, and place it there(aux) on one side of the fuse??Most radios only need approx 10amp fuse rating? You can even wire it to ign fuse so that power is only on when key to car is on,off with key in off position.Works every time..Ya.. some jackass was under the dash for sure!!Harnesses are so cheap these days.Try those things out, and let us know how it turned out???I will be putting in another HU in about an hour myself.Take care!!

Pull the fuse out and see if the little piece of metal inside the fuse is still solid, if not replace it with the same size of fuse

Go over to whatever store you want and buy a meter. It's totally worth the $20 and will help you solve your problem in a fraction of the time. You can either buy a full on digital multi-meter or even cheaper are the types that have a light bulb in what looks like a screw driver with a wire and a clamp on the other end.

One thing at a time. Get your HU working, then we'll worry about the subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hey ill go check the fuses in a bit. The deck i took outta there right before i tried this new one worked fine but who knows maybe i burned them out somehow. I will have to go find a meter on tues and once i get the hu running i wont have a problem with the rest of the system i had it in my explorer right before this car. I will keep in touch on whats happening.

Wal mart sells a nice yellow meter here for $12.00 a good one for the money...they also have a nice test light for about $5 that is computer safe these are located in the automotive section with wire and fuses...im not sure what prices would run in Canada

Hope you disconnected the battery before you removed the old deck. Otherwise you probably did blow a fuse.

no i didnt disconnect the battery!! maybe this is what happened... im also confused there is about 20 or more fuses under my steering clumn how do i know which one i have to check lol maybe ill look up a diagram online for those.

well the hu is brand new i am assuming its good but ill check

i found a blown 7.5 amp fuse under the hood not dash so when i get my hands on a new fuse ill attemp the deck install this time with the batt unhooked again wish me luck

Right..there should be some kind of diagram on the cover that gives you a# 1-20 or? that will tell you what the fuse is for..You should have extras in the cover also prob at the bottom bunched up together..I wouldnt be afraid to use a 10 in place of the 7.5 until I got another???It may be the blown fuse you are looking for..prob goes to radio/cig lighter?????Its only 2.5 amps more???????

Or just check them all. Couldn't hurt and wouldn't take more than 5 minutes with a pair of needle nose pliers (assuming you need to pull them out to look at them).

Hey thanks for all the help I have this deck wired in and working now it was that small little blown fuse that i had to replace. Im so close to haveing a complete system now I just have to find a place for the power wire to go through from the batt to the inside of the cab any ideas? and then a spot for the ground. Then i can get my dash back together soon lol

ohh yeah i will have to wait till after tomorrow to get those subs wired in becuase the windows are going to get tinted they will have to be pulled out anyway since they only place those subs and sub box fits is across the back seat making my car a two seater hehe
