Police say he refused to come outside to speak with an officer, who told him he was investigating a report of a break-in.
"Why, because I'm a black man in America?" Gates said.
Oh snap.

The Rev. Al Sharpton said he will attend Gates' arraignment.
"This arrest is indicative of at best police abuse of power or at worst the highest example of racial profiling I have seen," Sharpton said. "I have heard of driving while black and even shopping while black but now even going to your own home while black is a new low in police community affairs."
Racist?

anything al sharpton is involved with is total crap. he is the racist one. thats why when ever he gets involved the people in question dont get crap. its like once you hear he is in the story you kinda tune it out and then find yourself wondering what happened a few months down the road. just like everyone else, we hear his dumbass comments and ignore the whole thing till it just blows over. and in the end the black guy is still the theif and the police get a raise and good ole AL wonders down the next dirt road to try to find another person whos guilty being black while killing or robbing someone

al sharpton is THE biggest racist.

"did something happen to you? do you feel wronged? do you just want it to seem like the white man's fault? give me a call, i'll get the shit straight"

- al sharpton

I'll take care of this.

Al is a ***

But they had no right to arrest that guy...That officer should get in big trouble for not showing or telling a badge number..Cops are around to protect and serve, not to prosecute and pass judgment..

What's so hard about opening the door, showing them that you live there and saying have a good night? Instead of "allegedly" yelling and claiming racism...
I doubt he yelled, Im sure he cooperated, they just wanted to make the lady that called feel safe by taking somebody to jail..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Eh, two sides to every story, that's why I added allegedly. Cops are around to prosecute by the way, they bring prosecution upon criminals. Maybe you meant persecute.

law says you don't have to open your door for the cops without a warrant. I'd say the police were wrong on this one.

Al Sharpton's a clown, he needs a hobby or something.

This country will forever have deep racial tension, oh well what's new?

Even with probable cause that a burglary could be taking place?

So say your house is getting burglarized, the police come and talk to the burglar through the front door. You want them to just say have a nice day and move on. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

that's what the law says, I didn't say the laws in America are JUST, but they are the law. we've all seen movies where the police ring the doorbell while the killer/burglar has the victims tied up/gagged or are threatening them not to scream or they'll kill them. Its the law, if the law were to be changed for "suspicious behavior" there would be too much room for injustice by the police (which does happen, lets not be naive to think everyone in jail is guilty).
