Trying to help a friend out w/ sub

Hey guys, I don;t really know too mich about car audio, but I am trying to help my friend out. He is thinking about getting the deal that they have going on now. Buy one Inifnity 1242W sub and get the second one free. I am trying to convince him that these are going to be pieces of crap. I'd hate to see him dissappointed.

Anyways, I want to give him some different routes on this. He's pretty much looking for spl. I guess about $200 max on sub(s). He wants 2, but I think I convince him that 1 decent one will be plenty. No amp yet, as it will be determined on what sub he gets. Any suggestions?

go with those infinity's. My friend has 1 12 and it can shake his ex. cab. s-10 preety **** good. He's hitting it with 280watt infinity amp. I've read a lot of places that infinities will handle more than their rating, but that's your own choice as far as how much power to give them. For pure spl they aren't the best, but for $100 you can have 2 of them, and they will make you deaf with no problems. They're not gonna compare to a w7 or somethin, but for the money they're preety **** awesome. check out crutchfield, I think they may be cheaper over there.

if you want spl, dont get the infinities. they sound freakin nice, but not very loud.
