Jesus Christ in Detroit you can rent places for $300. $690 will get you into the suburbs.

My apartment at college was $1000/month for a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom place.

Living around here is pretty cheap even in some good areas. North of chicago is the big bucks.

$690 in california is definitely cheap though. When I was scoping out places in carlsbad (job opportunity) it was like $1200/month for a freaking studio apartment.
