Trunk wangins Danali xl 7KW 4 HDC318 build

who says im pulling 500 amps? after rise i have no idea how much power im getting. i didnt have a clamp before now i do so i will see how much power im really getting.

need an alt bro. seriously i would put money on you dropping into the 11-10 volt range with that much power on the stock alt. just keep an eye on everything and use your senses to tell you if something is going wrong (smell is very important)
using birch to help save weight. the bracing is where the main strength will come from.

will seeing as how impedence rise is normally about 2.78-3.12x higher than your actual wired resistance you should still be seeing close to 7k.. which will be a lot...i mean a lot of stress on that stock alt. 2000 watts is really too much for a stock alt (135 amp)

i am with supergumby i think it was that said your alt will fault out.

but not entirely though, it is possiable to run a amp at .5 an it do okay on A BURP, i never heard anywone doing it for a daily beater.

although what most of guys don't know is that i have heard those amps can get down to 8 r 9 volts before blowing or faulting out, so its possiable i think, but it don't mean your amps will be doing 7kw maybe more like 5k lol if even that, it all depends on your box rise an how hot that box is geting inside

love the build man honestly but i would deff clamp those amps to see how much power your getting out of them when you doing your full tilt good luck man an stay safe.

oh an i would lookin into getting at least a 200amp alt but i think a 300 an maybe about 2-4 batts will be good too

ive ran 3kw at .5 for like six months on a stock alt, and only 2 g31 in the back, but no more. i get my 270a amp today to help power my d9. there is no way i should try running 2 3500d amps on a stock alt

and also, future box tip, birch is only stronger than MDF if a single layer is used, when you start using MDF in multiple layers it's strength increases exponentially, Birch is more linear.
I'm sure he didn't want the extra weight of multiple layered MDF. BB layered is very strong, so he'll be fine.

Amps will soft protect at 10.6v, so if they start cutting in/out then back off the volume a little and start saving for a nice DC alt...

lol it was already ran like this. dropped to 12 full tilt with 2 hdc3 12's. amps never got over cold.
was that "12" at the dash, batteries, or amplifiers?

and if the amps never got more than cold, you probably werent seeing half their power with that electrical system.

Bite the bullet and get the HO alternator now. In terms of how much $$$ is going into this, an alternator wont be much more, and it will be a DRASTIC improvement

it was at the amplifiers. so what if i wasnt see half the power ,its still loud as balls. alternator is like 550, plus to get it installed, and now im flat broke because of buying teh subs and all of the wood. and i just started back to college, so no money.

Okay, dont take my advice, i was just trying to give some help.

Look at it this way, you spent a shit ton of money on equipment you arent using to its potential. I bet you would be just as loud with 1 amp + an alternator rather than 2 amps and a stock alternator, AND you wouldnt have spent any more money, AND you wouldnt be risking cooking your entire investment.

Nice build regardless though.

woo hoo, we're almost done, all we have left to do is to put the double baffle on the bottom of the box, put the box in the car, wire up the subs and boom boom boom!
