Trunk Vibration Noise Help...

I just installed my new 12W3v3 and I am getting a weird vibration at high volumes. It doesn't sound like port noise, it doesn't sound like plastic, it sounds like a higher pitch ringing. Almost like a coin bouncing around in a small glass jar back there. The car is a hatchback if that means anything and I am firing the sub upward instead of facing the trunk if that matters. After sitting in the back seat and turning the volume up I was able to reproduce the sound, started pushing around on panels an other items that I thought may be making this ringing vibration. Nothing, I couldn't get it to stop, I have no idea what the problem area is. After opening the tailgate and turning up the volume the ringing did not happen.....but that doesn't really eliminate anything as I effectively canceled out any cabin gain. I looked and looked for loose anything to no avail. I would just say that I need more deadening if it were a typical vibration sound, but its not, its a distinct ringing like a heavier piece of metal vibrating against a lighter(loose) piece of metal and it is driving me crazy. I don't want to apply more deadening without knowing where the sound is coming from, and as I said I stuck my head in the back can not definitively find the source. At first I thought it was a strange port noise but that was eliminated when I opened my trunk....guys any suggestions to the source of this weird sounding vibration?

Also, it is not that loud, more of a faint ringing but still annoying. From the outside of the car, my hatchback door is vibrating the most so that is where my guess is as to where the source of the sound coming from. I want to just fill it with more damping crap and some acoustical foam that I have, but like I said I do not know definitively where the sound is coming from...

It really sounds like it could be some kind of audible interference or some other signal noise rather than vibration, I can't rule anything out at this point because I was unable to get it to stop by pressing on pannels, or even locate it.

The final most important piece of the puzzle is I had another sub in 2 weeks ago that did not hit as hard but still hit, and I did not get this sound. I am wondering if it is the sub, man this is frustrating. Though it only happens when the sub hits hard and low at higher volumes which would lead me to believe it is not a signal coming from the speaker. If that were the case wouldn't it still make the sound just more and less of it at different volumes?

Thanks in advance.

My 06 Impreza 2.5i wagon had an issue just like this! It took a few months to locate and isolate and I took care of it. Issues are hard to trace sometimes.

What vehicle you use?

Dude, I drive a 2007 2.5i wagon!!!! So what did you do? I have deadening on and acoustical foam the 5th door pannel already (but nothing on the plastic cover pannel). I can't believe you have the same car as me and had the same problem and read my thread, what luck....!

In mine it was the hatch doorhandle.
