Trunk Problems #2 (pics)

I had problems with my trunk latch before and posted pics. Since then I have fixed it by running the screws the opposite way and putting locking nuts on each screw and getting the metal welded where it had ripped. Since doing this it has started tearing the metal in other places around the trunk latch and making my trunk pop up when I turn up the volume a little. I'm going the have it welded again tomorrow, but is patching it up when it rips the only thing I can do? I was planning on getting a bigger amp but I'm having second thoughts because of the problems i'm having with my trunk. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i would invest the money in getting a used lid from a junkyard and reinforce it before you install it. aside from that the only other solution would be to get a smaller system.

Hit the junkyard, find a new trunk lid, mat the hell out of it. Problem solved. Otherwise, your just putting a bandaid on a gun shot.

Its a very common issue with CV and Grand Marquies trunks no matter what the year. Im lucky, my trunk lid was replaced after my accident back in Jan, but im still worried considering my single 18" is putting alot of pressure on it.

If I do this it will only do it again and I have to get it painted. I dont really want to do that and have the same problem.

took the trunk lid off and the latch off. the metal was ripped even worse behind the latch. all the ripped places were welded up pretty good. i have sound deadener on the way. im going to take the latch off and apply it there and all around it. i hope this fixes it. i wil be able to tell soon when i get a bigger amp.

looks like you might be 1 of those guys who aim ur subs up at the trunk. firefoward and seal it off. prob fixed...
they are fired toward the back of the car. this way has proven to be the loudest. if i face them toward the front of the car they would be firing directly into my gas tank. i know this would not be as loud. facing them up sucked also.
