Trunk latch rattle help

Ok, I'm a newbie, sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i wasn't sure where to put it, so re-direct me if necessary.

Anyway, problem is in a '99 Neon R/T. I have a JL 12w3 in a cheap sealed box in the trunk hooked up to a Bazooka EL500 amp and for the most part the thing does exactly what I want it to for an entirely used equipment setup. The only problem I have with it is the stupid trunk rattle. It is embarrassing if you ask me as you have a nice car and the tunes sound great, but then you have this stupid rattle that everyone can here on the outside of the car, but you can't hear on the inside. I've narrowed the rattle down to being the latch. Nothing else in the trunk rattles, if I grab the latch with my hand and hold it, it doesn't rattle. The part that rattles on the latch is the actual ring and the part that clips to it. I have no idea what to do with this. Any help would be appreciated. I had the setup in a '98 caravan (I know I know) for a while and it never rattled like this.

Please help.

usually people suggest putting some sort of sound deadener to stop rattles. I dont understand your specific situation but I remember putting some plasticine/modelling clay to dampen those small areas.

for starters you could sound seal tha trunk but to fix tha rattle.....does your latch have bolts?you can simply have a (big) friend sit on tha trunk while you tightn tha bolt

I was trying to avoid deadening the whole trunk as that could be a costly and time consuming venture that i can't see helping my specific problem. The area that is rattling is the striker and the D-ring that it hooks to when the trunk is closed, the only actual contact point of the latch. It is bolted in, but it's the striker and D-ring that are rattling on each other.

well...tha ghetto way to cut that sound is by taking electrical tape an puttin some on tha point at which it rattles...but thas tha ghetto way...its not summin id do but it should work...atleast thas wat i have been told
