Trunk Flex question

Wait, I dont mean the sub flexing. I mean the trunk top. I dont want it to be popint up and down.

So, comparing a Type R 10'' and 12'', I could get a 10'' and make it so it hits low for rap, and the trunk wont flex? Or (because I still want the 12'') could I get the 12'' and set something to do something (gain I think), so it doesnt flex. Or what?

I mean its not a big problem. Its just if I am able to stop it from flexing, Ill try and do so, but it seems inevtable right now.

So, the position im in, who thinks 10, and who thinks 12?

Dude both will flex.....my Aiwa subs (two 7s....LOLERCOASTER that was fun) flexed my trunk pretty good.....you need to spend money on deadening to get rid of it. Your not going to see a ton of flexing anyway, your not running a crazy setup....

Then again you could be running a T-cab  Hehe....That was a joke BTW //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Lol, well then if it doesnt matter, Ill just go for the 12''.
Another quetsion, if I were to get two of the 12''s would that double how much the trunk flexes?
Jesus. . . put 2 layers of SecondSkin on the lid and you won't have any flex. End of story. How do I know? Well, look at my setup. My roof flexes more than my trunk does, and my trunk doesn't even flex, it just rattles like a mofo.

Yeah, ill just deal with it.

Another question:

With 12''s that would probably shake everything in the car, huh? So, my choice is between two 10''s and one 12''.

First, what would sound better, because I want music, not noise. Secondly, I want it too look cool, so which would look cooler? Because when I make the box, ill probably put in a fake wall, just to make it look good.

Just thoughts on that?

Well if I do get two 12''s instead of the 10's ill need to layer the trunk in something like dynamat, and also, ill go either sealed or bandpass....

Ive been told to go sealed for what im looking for, and am wating to hear about a bandpass design.

I have 70 sq feet of deadner in my trunk and still get rattle and flex. Bass will cause flex. period. No matter what. Just think about it really hard. Thin metal vs subs pushing tons of air. Subs win. Now if you realy want to get into it you could build a false lid with 3/4 mdf, that might stop it. 2 10's will probably sound better and get louder than 1 12. Surface area. And this is based upon you having the right box and the right power. Good luck.

10's hit low you just have to tune it low to do it... the video you saw might have been tuned high... flexing is going to be a problem if you want to call it that... you will end up spending a lot on deadning if you dont want flex... heck check out hotcarls 8" rlp with just one of those he is flexing
