hmmm sounds like a win win. I put my vote in for Type Rs, just because I have been using Alpine longer than RE, plus you can get 2 12" Type Rs new for a lot less than a used MX

The 2 12s will no doubt be louder, but I would still go with the MX because of rarity factor, and it should wang pretty well too.

the price doesnt justify spending twice as much, for half the amount. The R's will be louder, and sound just as good to most, given you have the right amount of space for them.

so if i go 2 12 type r's and went about 4.5 - 5 cubes all in all ported and tuned to say 34 hz, that should nail pretty well no?

right now i have an re SX, and it hits real nice, just enough to wiggle your ear loabs and make your nose feel a bit funny...these type r's will no doubt hurt more than 1 RE SX right? i know it sounds stupid, but i just cant believe im buying into the type r hype, and i was origianlly lead to believe that the single sx would out perform 2 12 type r's...and man i think i was lied to...

i had ordered an MX 3 weeks ago, but they couldnt get it in, and one showed up but it was damaged, i got my money back and figured i would look around here...

ps. probably going to have a slightly used 12 SX for sale i guess...

i had asked a few questions about the SX on here awhile back, spoken to some other people, listened to them blah blah, i was about 70% sold on that concept, but i subscribed to the common theory that 2 of one thing always beats 1 of another (in most cases), and i even brought that up and was given some sliding info...

so i pulled the trigger on the single SX because i had the chance and it seemed to fit my application...well im not dissapointed, but im not sold either...i had never dealt with RE subs (amps yes) prior to the SX, but i heard nothing but good, and my friends cousin runs a shop down here that deals RE and well, i guess he was also trying to make a nice RE sale to get that quota up, or hes retarded, im not sure...

so if i end up with the 2 type r's, im thinking of going 5 cubes total tuned to 35 hertziz for the 2 type r's...after all the reading ive done (and god knows there 9k type r threads), this seems to be a pretty preffered size and tuning selection...no?

5 cubes net. would be roughly 8 total id say, depending how the box/port is set up.
