Trunk button doesn't pop trunk anymore

i had the same problem with the latch also, turns out my magnet on my sub was to close and wouldnt unlock my trunk.

If my alt and batt are good why in the world would my lights be dimming like that? What else can I remedy? I'm not about to drop a few hundred on a HO for a few hundred RMS system.

The alt and battery are fine, so obviously you wouldn't need an HO alt... you REALLY shouldn't have any sort of dimming with that though, unless you are trying to power everything in the vehicle at full blast, like Deadeye said. Check your grounds, check your connections, monitor your voltage drop. Something IS wrong.

Yea definitely will check it out, need to go pick up a multimeter. Uh, my old system is completely out right now so it's just factory sound in my car for the next few days. New system getting installed this Thursday. I'll see what happens then, hopefully no dimming perhaps the ground was bad with my old stuff, plus the Bass Boost was up on it about 1/4th maybe more. Could that have caused it?

IMO a new shop is in order here or just spend a few hours learning how to hook everything up and do it yourself.

Yea the problem is I don't have the patience or tools at my disposal, I don't even have wirecutters. My new system on Thursday is going to be installed by a different shop altogether anyway, and this guy sounds a lot more legit. I'll cross my fingers that it helps. Perhaps the other place just grounded bad, who knows.

pop the plastic cover off the latch and see if a squirt of wd-40 won't free it up sounds like the latch is sticking also engage the latch with the trunk open(jam a screw driver shaft in it) then try to open it with the button so theres no tension on it, really it's a guessing game theres a lot going on between springs and different latches that engage depending on what fucntion is being used to pop the latch.
