Not too hard to take a crowbar to the lid to get it open if needed, its whatever you want, some people have trunk poppers, others don't.Title ^. I have to manually open it with a key. Is it a good idea just to keep it like this so it's harder for things to get stolen or should I figure how to reconnect it? It just stopped working randomly.
Slight dimming while idle and I believe the amp was a bit more powerful than 200w, and it's not that it stopped working. I'm fairly certain the place that I had installed my old system disconnected it I just haven't got around to asking about it on here yet because it hasn't been a huge priority. It's not that the power for it doesn't work, it's been disconnected or something I think. I checked my battery and alt at a local AutoZone and they said it's 100% in good condition so I can't have those large of problems from electricI have a feeling you have pretty substantial electrical problems if you get massive dimming on a 200W amp, and if things randomly stop working.
Making $400 a month that's going to be awhile. I just stated that I'm almost positive the place I had hook up my stuff the first time disconnected it, I'm more or less asking should I try to rehook up the trunk button because I think they disconnected it to make it harder to steal, or should I keep it like it is so it is in fact harder to steal anything.buy a new car dude its fucked lol
Because your battery and alternator are the only components in your electrical system? The majority of your car is part of the electrical system, and you don't have to have a bad alternator or failed battery to have problems.Slight dimming while idle and I believe the amp was a bit more powerful than 200w, and it's not that it stopped working. If my alt and batt are good why in the world would my lights be dimming like that? What else can I remedy? I'm not about to drop a few hundred on a HO for a few hundred RMS system. The trunk button still makes the popping noise and sounds the same but the trunk is still latched when I go to open it.Because your battery and alternator are the only components in your electrical system? Crutchfield says it's 250W RMS. MTX Magnum Audio MB210SP Magna Bass Package Dual 10" ported enclosure with 250-watt mono amplifier at Crutchfield.com
Either way, you shouldn't have any dimming from that unless you've got your brights on, you're rolling every window up, with the AC full blast, in drive at idle, with having the volume all of the way up(with that amp/subs).
You should definitely contact the shop that installed your equipment, and see if that's something they would/could even do. I can almost guarantee that they wouldn't know how to do it. It's completely possible that your button not working was caused by low voltage.

If it is still popping when you hit the button that means it is trying to work and is still hooked up.
Spray it down with some WD 40 (the mechanism and latch) that should fix it.
